Converge gears up for expanded presence in Luzon

With its "Go Deep" strategy, the telco targets to boost its market share by adding manpower, communications channels, and service vehicles to support its expansion plans.

Converge chief operating officer Jesus Romero said that while the group already covered 49 percent of households in Luzon as of end-March, they still see a "significant potential" in the island.

There are still areas there that are not well-served and we want to address these coverage gaps with our fiber technology. Our goal is to provide affordable and high-quality internet services that these regions deserve, Romero said.

For the second quarter, Converge officially introduced its fiber services to residents of Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, and Cagayan.

According to Converge, subscribers in these provinces can now enjoy high-speed boosts of up to 800 megabytes per second at their preferred set time, either Day or Night, with FiberX Time of Day plans. Converge now offers a no deposit or advance payment and installment of 24 months for the installation fee for new subscribers.

Switchers from other internet service providers are offered with no cash-out and 50 percent off on their monthly recurring charges for 6 months, it added.

The official added that Converge's subscriber base will continue to grow in the second semester as more areas will be added to their list.

We are expecting more subscriptions in the coming months as we are going to commercially launch in more locations in the second half of the year. Our expansion plans are strategically mapped out to ensure that we maximize our resources and network infrastructure, even beyond Luzon, Romero said.
